Understanding Conversational AI: Philosophy, Ethics, and Social Impacts of Large Language Models
This isn't a technical book, it's an examination of the ethical and political dimensions of AI, its embedded biases, and implications for society.
The brief pleaded for "no pictures of robots please! and no clichéd neural networks!" I was happy to oblige. Instead I looked backwards to another point in time, as Europe hurtled towards a new century. Hard to imagine now but the painting "Paris, Rainy Day" by Gustave Caillebotte was tremendously modern at the time: "...considered the artist’s masterpiece, Caillebotte strikingly captured a vast, stark modernity, complete with life-size figures strolling in the foreground and wearing the latest fashions." (Art Institute of Chicago).
The design concept was to hint at "look how far we've come/how much has changed and how much has stayed the same".
(Below are some alternative designs that weren't used.)
Alternative design concepts
I typically produce and submit more than one design for you to look at and choose from. These two below were not used for this project in the end but I liked both the concepts - they fulfil the brief but from a different angle.
