Peter Artedi: Reformer of 18th Century Zoology, Vol. II
The two fish face each other when the two printed books are put side to side on a table. The fish on the cover of Volume 2 is from the rare book collection in the New York Public Library Digital Collection - I chose one that is yellow and blue in a nod towards Sweden's national colours.
The brief for this book was very broad, asking only for fish to feature on the cover, and for Vols 1 and 2 to tie together thematically. They are a comprehensive account of the life and works of an early 18th century Swedish naturalist.
